The bereavement service was an amazing support and the only place I was able to talk truthfully and openly about how I felt. The fact it was connected to the hospice who had looked after my mum also felt special. I really felt my counsellor understood my situation and the implications of losing someone to an illness. I was really grateful for the service.

Suggested improvements
It is a shame there is nothing for people to use in the period following losing someone. I wonder if there could be an interim service like a call when people are going through those first tough weeks and months. I guess an option to “check in” with people after the 6 sessions have completed could be worthwhile for some people who may need support but don’t like to ask.
