I am telling you this on behalf of my son. An appointment for a check up eight months post surgery (with a member of the Cardiothoracic team) had been sent in the post on 14-11-17 for 15:15 on 5-1-18 . When we arrived at 15:10 we were told that it had been cancelled and that a letter has not been sent! It had apparently been rearranged for the following week and he was told that he should come back then! My son (and I) were unwilling to do so, he had taken a day off school in the middle of his mocks and I one off work plus spending £24 on train fares. In the end we waited two hours and he was seen by a non cardiothoracic nurse, as it was only a check up my son had no worries about his condition my son did not want to come back. This is the second time we have been told my son should have been sent a letter and we have not received it. As my son will need to be coming back to Barts for the next couple of years he is now now very wary of the admin system. Our lasting impression of Barts is good medical care, fancy interior very poor non joined up. admin.
