The ward and nursing staff were exemplary. I could not wish for better treatment I have a couple of issues, the first of which is probably unresolvable. I attended before 0730 and when Mr Kosmin had seen us all, he put us in surgery order. I went for my surgery at about 1145 - it was a long wait. A second issue was with the anaesthetist. I was to be sedated as I had occasional clonic spasms which would have been disastrous if one occurred during surgery. The sedation was useless, I could see everything that happened and felt some of it as well. I was tense during the procedure. Other patients who had sedation felt nothing and were surprised when it was over. I don't knpow what the anaesthetist gave me but it didn't work! The last point is concerning the pack of information I was given on discharge. The information and the explanation by the nursing staff was excellent. I am commenting on the pack 5 sterile gauze swabs the pack contained. I have to use three at a time, four times a day for 14 days. My wife went to three local chemists to purchase more and was unable to do so, as they didn't have them. All said they would get them but the next day. There was no indication beforehand that we needed to purchase some, If we had been told then we could have got some in advance. As I could obviuosly not drive, my 70 year old wife, exhausted herself running round to find some. Apart from those comments I can compliment all the staff (except the anaesthetist) on a 100% visit.
