The care I received was professional: however, I found several members of staff unfriendly and no one at reception every acknowledged me, particularly on discharge. There were 3 professionals I liked. Lyn on pre-admission telephone call, Van a male nurse and Clyde senior night nurse. The food was adequate but very little effort had been made to make a tray look attractive. I asked for some pepper, to be told that ….. “we haven’t had any pepper for months” …. My room whilst fairly clean apart from the bedside table, was very poor in quality. The bedside cabinet looked 100 years old and the very few coat hangers provided, were attached to a rail and couldn’t t be removed. Is this really necessary? On the day after surgery, 2 different workmen knocked and came in Without me answering that they could. One wanted to change a shower head and the other came in with a hammer and fire instructions to bang into the door. Feeling very sleepy and not well, , this felt very instructive and unnecessary. Surely they could have waited until I had been discharged? Particularly as I wasn’t allowed to shower. Overall I was disappointed with the clinic because I felt there was no empathy for the patient. Pre-surgery I had an MRSA/MSSA swab - when it turned out I was carrying MSSA, three different people called me at different times to enquire whether I knew this - not very joined up administration I felt.
