On the day of my consultation for getting my tonsils removed Paul Chatrath was an amazing listener, I told him all the trouble my tonsils were causing me and he was so caring and understanding. After leaving all I had to do was decide the date of my operation and inform his secutary of my decision, this was a very straightforward process as I got a reply the very next day. They were great with working around me and my life. On Fri 27th Apr I arrived at Harstwood Hospital for my operation. I'm pleased to say there was no waiting around, before I knew it I had my very own room which was clean comfy and modern. Before I got taken to the operating room Paul Chatrath came to see me and asked how I was etc. He's got such a calm, gentle and trustworthy way, if anybody was to be nervous before an operation you would calm right down just seeing him. After waking up from the operation I ate a nice thick ham sandwich, an ice lolly a small pot of ice cream and some biscuits and I drank 2 jugs of water. There's no need to dread your 1st meal, they will manage your pain relief very well. I went home later the same day although I was given the choice to stay too which was nice. The nurses were great with me and I felt completely in control the whole day through. My time at home was the tough part, the pain gradually got worse the 7th day being the worst (but not as painful as I imagined) and then it gradually got better. I was told to expect this as it's all part of the healing process. What helped a lot was Paul Chatrath's aftercare advice, he explained that chewing and swallowing is important as it speeds up the healing time and for me it also reduced some of the pain as it stopped my throat from feeling tight. My health has improved so much from this decision and it's had a positive effect on many things. Due to having infection after infection of tonsillitis it caused a lot of blockage in my ears and when I layed down I used to go completely deaf but now I don't suffer with that anymore, it's improved my hearing altogether. I can also smell and taste more, it's like all my senses are in HD. Thanks to Paul Chatrath I can now enjoy all these little pleasures that I forgot existed after 10yrs of tonsillitis. Paul Chatrath is the most amazing ENT Surgeon and he's so kind. if anybody is considering this operation please go with him.
