I had been running up and down to this hospital because of my 3 year old daughter getting ill which the Health professionals call virus infection. I had two horrible experiences which made me decide that I will not take her there anymore. Early hours on one Sunday morning last month (February), my wife called the ambulance when we saw that our daughter was looking like short of breath. After passing through triage, we were sent to the PANDA unit where we know very well. We sat down and we saw that the nurses were not busy because they were all gathered in the Nursing station and chatting away. It was only when my daughter threw up in the waiting area that they decided to make arrangement for her to be seen. The Sister on duty commented that we are here again. That was disgusting for someone who is trained to save life. The following weekend we were at Salford Royal again through night emergency GP. The lady nurse who was allocated to check my daughter at triage stage queried why we continue to her here. 'Do we want to infect others'. I was dumbfounded and decided that I shall be taking her to Manchester Children's Emergency from then on. I have visited there twice since then and you are treated like a human being. The nurses have a human touch and give you a sense of belonging.
