Elderly mother with hip fractured admitted on Monday, surgery not carried out until.Sunday waited in recovery 5 hrs for a bed on a ward. When a bed became available it was on a male ward, finally transferred to a female ward at 7.30pm
Staff on the Ambulatory Ward told me my mother's surgery was cancelled, due to her being on blood thinners - she isn't. The same nurse told me my mother has dementia she doesn't, but does get confused. The nurses sat at their station chatting and eating chocolate most of the day.
Don't hip fractures need to be operated on within 48hrs?
