Hi,
I had the good fortune to be treated by staff at the RVH Belfast ED today.
Their care and professionalism from the beginning at reception, through triage and on to the Consultant Nurse and her clinician trainee was exemplary.
Everything happened in timely manner, examinations were thorough and test results clearly explained.
Medication to aid recovery was provided and need for some further tests in the future identified and planned for.
The RVH Belfast is in great hands.
Grateful thanks,
Stephen Melville
I’m sorry I’ve nothing to recommend it. It’s dirty from going in and the corridors are covered in litter ie plastic bottles - cans used empty fast food wrappers doesn’t actually inspire confidence in going there
My husband and I were visiting from England and staying with family in Belfast. During the night, my husband became very unwell and we attended A & E. We were there for 12 hours, and during that time my husband was seen by various nurses, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, an agency nurse, registrar and a urologist. Every one of these staff was so kind, everything was explained to us in detail at each stage of investigations and I really feel we could not have been treated with more care or compassion. Thank you to ANP Christopher and to nurse Konsella who contacted our GP in England to arrange follow up, dictated a list of instructions regarding a further plan of care and even managed to find tea and biscuits! You are all amazing and we are extremely grateful.
Before I was going into surgery the care was amazing, was put to rest in an comfortable state of mind. Can not praise the nurses and doctors for making me relaxed even though I was feeling emotional.
Excellent care during my recovery from open heart Surgery. Staff were so attentive and caring.
I went for an endoscopy of my oesophagus and stomach today and was very apprehensive about the procedure. All the staff were exceptionally competent and friendly. The procedure was carried out very efficiently, quickly and painlessly. Anyone considering such a procedure should not worry about it as it is in not even slightly uncomfortable.
The only minor quibble about my experience is that the signposting to the Endoscopy unit could be clearer from level 2.
I was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Ward 5C from the Ulster Hospital on Sat evening, 5th Feb (My Birthday) suffering from severe chest pain for past 5 weeks. The treatment I recieved from the minute I arrived was exceptional, the whole process commenced immediately and I was informed I would be going through my procedure the following morning, Sun 6th Feb (Thanks to Sister Julie). I went for an aniogram to discover the route of the problem and was found to have a blockage. The team led by Mr McNeice advised they were inserting a stent/bridge to repair the damage, which they did immediately. The whole process was over in 45 mins and I can't thank all those team enough. I returned to Ward 5C by lunchtime on Sunday where Nurse Geraldine looked after me brilliantly as did all the staff. I was returned to the Ulster Ward 20 at 6pm on Sunday and discharged home on Mon 7th Feb - Amazing service. I also need to thank Mr McCaffrey, Cardiac Consultant, Ulster who referred me to the Royal.

I was seen quickly and I found all the staff to be extremely friendly and upbeat which was very reassuring. The hospital seems to be run efficiently and I would recommend this hospital 100%.
Each and every member of staff were absolutely excellent.. I could not have been better cared for and for that I wish to thank them very much.
