I have been under the Royal Orthopaedic now just over a year, with various consultants and departments. I have found most to be courteous and seem genuinely interested in my complaint and the resolving thereof. Apart from one male person, (not a consultant I might add) who, after our consultation treated me for a weak back and prescribed exercise every day for 6 weeks, to say I was in agony was an understatement. I have actually got L3-4 and L4-5 protruding discs, pressing onto my spinal cord! and this form of exercise should not have been prescribed! So my advise would be, if you're not sure or convinced what they are telling you - ask for a second opinion - I should have done. Saying this their facility may look old and outdated but looks can be deceiving, I have always found it inviting and welcoming with staff at the front door to help you log in if needed. The waiting area's warm , clean and magazines and newspapers available to read while you wait. Plus they have large fully integrated TV waiting screens - informing you of your consultants running schedule (if on time or how many min's behind) and which floor you should be waiting in. Parking like all hospitals can become pricey but their is some free on road parking between set times, if you just catch lucky with both your appointment time and grabbing a space. Overall this hospital holds it's own against the all singing/dancing newly fully furnished Queen Elizabeth not far away.
Breathing exercises. Retraining the brain. Setting goals.
Seen very quickly. Staff made sure I knew the procedure and explained what was happening. Polite and considerate.
Very friendly.
Being in a group with others who have experienced similar problems and the effects of pain - made me feel less critical of myself - especially as we've been taught how our brain functions (remembering pain), superb supportive team!! Can't think of anything to improve it - for me accessibility was an issue as I had to travel from Tamworth to R.O.H twice weekly.
Excellent care and attention taken by doctors and nurses.
The care was excellent but a little more information about what was going to happen whilst here would have been good.
Speedy service.
Excellent nursing care.
Cleanliness.
Very friendly, very relaxed environment and information explained clearly.
