I visited Accident and Emergency at Lancaster and although I was in severe pain, my experience was only good. The doctors and nurses were very professional but I want to make a point of thanking the lady who booked me in and calmed me down whilst doing so with a smile. Thankyou to Julie on reception who cared and made me laugh through the pain and who showed my family and I nothing but kindness. Our NHS is outstanding and we are all lucky to have it. We need to make sure we never lose it.

Review of RLI A&E Department written by a patient
2nd September 2017

I was seen in A&E at the RLI by nurse Andrea Carpenter. She was absolutely fantastic. Very professional, knowledgeable, caring but at the same time understanding and down to earth. I couldn't fault her in any way and would like to pass on my thanks to her and for her supervision to be made aware of my comments. Many thanks.

Review of RLI Postnatal Ward written by a patient
17th August 2017

I spent three nights on the ward, and saw a variety of different people who had different views and opinions. While it was great to learn from different people, it was sometimes confusing to take all of the information in when I was getting contradictory information from different staff in the space of a few minutes. I found it very hard to sleep or rest on the ward because of the noise from other mothers and babies. While this was mostly unavoidable, anything that could be done to isolate these noises would greatly improve the patient experience. It was also too warm on the ward, and the bed was too short. I could not sit up without my feet hitting the end of the bed, which got very annoying very quickly.

Review of RLI MU2 Physiotherapy - Day Hospital & Rheumatology written by a patient
11th August 2017

My physiotherapist Claire is very good, making sure I am getting the best available care and treatment from the whole rheumatology team and my Doctor. Time is taking to assess, consult and review making me feel listened too and cared for. Claire is very personable, professional and understanding. Thank you .

Review of RLI Endoscopy Unit written by a patient
22nd July 2017

The staff were excellent. They were all very pleasant, talking me through exactly what the procedure would involve and encouraging questions if I was uncertain about anything. During the procedure the nurse kept reassuring me and regularly asking if I was comfortable and the Dr. who performed the procedure answered any questions I had and kept me informed. I am very grateful for the care and expertise of the team. Afterwards when I was in the recovery room the nurse did the usual checks re BP etc and offered me a drink and something to eat when I felt ready. Overall the whole team made me feel relaxed and comfortable with their care, I can't praise them highly enough. My thanks to them all.

Review of RLI MU2 Physiotherapy Dept written by a patient
18th July 2017

I cannot fault the care, treatments and support i have received from Goshia and Zoe. Without doubt, they are both an absolute credit to the physio department and the NHS. Mike, the guy on reception is also completely fantastic. I have never felt rushed or like I'm a nuisance or wasting their time. I would like to thank them all for being amazing people. It's, quite clearly, the best physio department in the country.

Review of RLI Ward 36 written by a patient
10th July 2017

I found the majority of staff - from healthcare professionals to ancillary staff - to be very caring and committed to helping me recover from my injuries be it with medical treatment, personal care or kind words and despite how hard pressed they were at times due to their workload. Staff Nurse Claire Studholme and Clinical Support Workers Sandy and Christine (who worked the night shift) deserve particular mention for the outstanding care and support they provided to me and my fellow patients. There was a very noticeable shortage of experienced staff on the ward at night, with some bank and agency staff appearing to have little idea of how to comfort the sometimes confused/frightened patients with memory problems - this was very distressing for them and their fellow patients.
