First class care and support
I had a planned caesarean section. My whole experience was fabulous. The staff were incredible and provided person care throughout my admission. I felt very well looked after and I was put at ease throughout my whole stay. Thank you so much to the midwives, anaesthetists and the theatre staff that looked after me.
I attended the MIU at RCH on 15th December, and was terrified, as I was in extreme pain, and could not walk with my left hip. After hearing horror stories about attending MIU, I was really surprised at the care I was given. The receptionist was sympathetic, although the desk is far too high, as I was in a wheelchair, felt intimidating, and what if you are a short person? I was seen within 1 1/2 hrs, and several times after. The doctor I saw, Dr Laura was lovely, and sympathetic, and all the staff were caring, which I was shocked at. I was referred to physio, occupational therapy and physio, and was seen promptly by all lovely people. I have had horrendous experiences over the years with nurses, and am glad to say, things have definitely improved
There was something that needs changing, there is a notice saying not to eat or drink until seen, but it is not visible, as it is tucked behind the rubbish bin, so needs moving.
care provision was faultless throughout my whole procedure
I was seen at St Michael's Hospital in Hayle. The staff were all lovely and took the time to make sure my needs were taken care of. I would recommend this hospital.
It would have been helpful if the surgeon involved talked to me before the operation telling me what type of break I had and what they would be doing during the operation to repair the fracture. I didn't know what had been done for a while.
The staff at the hospital were fantastic and very kind and caring. I was transferred to Hayle Hospital where the staff were also fantastic.
One criticism I have of Hayle Hospital is concerning medication. I had a severe reaction with codeine, I felt I was on fire and told them that I didn't want any more codeine. Unfortunately this was not acted on and I was given codeine every day and even when I told them again, no one listened and they even sent me home with a full box of codeine. I threw the codeine tablets away each day as I didn't want another reaction like I had and returned the unopened box of codeine to my local surgery.
I was operated on at West Cornwall hospital on Hayle. Everyone there was very friendly supportive and helpful. And the food was pretty good too. A great experience.
Over the past few years I have had a hip replacement, a 9 days stay with pancreatitis, my gall bladder removed, and several overnight stays with A,F. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention, except for once. when I was not given news of a procedure that I had. I was already to go home, and I asked the nurse what time I could leave and she said that I could not as the procedure had failed. It was a blip, everybody thought somebody else had told me. However, this was the only incident that was a little upsetting. Otherwise I would recommend The Royal Cornwall to everyone, even if it means travelling a distance.
I initially felt unwelcome by the receptionist . I had been referred by 111 saying they had no record of this . I had a torn retina They were sending me to a and e and I felt really upset. But there was a lovely nurse called Helen and she sorted the problem and then the rest of the time the staff were awesome. Pleasant, helpful and doing their best to put me at ease . I returned back in the afternoon and the same receptionist was totally different attitude.
The doctor was amazing and lasered my eye which saved my retina detaching and a week of my holiday as I would have had to return home a week earlier. I can’t thank the medical staff enough. I appreciate receptionist are busy but so are all the other staff who go about their duties
