I Was sent to A M U by my gp a small procedure well didn't get there until after 7pm so was tired was treated well at the beginning then had to have a cannuala the nurse came a long put the cannuala in no problems next day asked I asked about a shower after having the shower the plaster on my cannuala got wet & came lose I explained to the nurse that was assigned to me so the nurse took off the top plaster I said the bottom plaster was also wet, but the nurse left that on ignoring me then the nurse put another plaster on top that also got wet of cause losened the cannuala so I had to have another one the nurse tried to put one in my arm that failed so my veins was blamed then she asked another nurse for help that nurse tried 3 time then got a vein higher in my arm put fluid through the cannuala asked to let her know if it hurt at that time it didn't so I said no it was ok as far as I knew but I'm not a nurse about 30 minutes later I said to my assigned nurse it was starting to hurt any she checked it it looked OK then said she would keep an eye on it well it got very painful & had swollen up like a small balloon the nurse came back to check I was in agony I asked her to take the cannuala out my arm when the nurse seen how swollen it was she took it out of my arm I was still in pain not knowing what was happening I started having a bit of a panic attack I asked for ice or ice pack I was told they don't have ice or ice packs I got cold water to start & dry clothes to take the swelling down in the end I was given ice cold water & left to deal with it myself, when I asked what would happen to my arm I was told it would disperse I had no idea what had just happened to my arm then the nurse got another member of staff to put a cannuala in my arm I still have no idea what happened felt like a pin cushion then I had to tell everyone I was nil by mouth as the nurse forgot to put a sign on my bed then the nurse forgot to give me something i should have taken before my procedure I was still sent for my procedure when I was put in recovery before going back to the ward I was asked what ward I was on i told them in recovery where I had been only to be told I was not known on that ward eventually a couple of nice ladies took me back to the ward then I was told I had been moved nothing more I asked over & over again where was all my belonging to be totally ignored by the nurse In charge telling me I should not be walking as I had just got back from my procedure I was so angry I asked to be taken to the ward I had been moved to then the porter trued to calm me down by explaining he had taken all my belonging to the next ward by then I just wanted to go home I was ignored nothing at all was explained I got to the next ward got dressed pcked all my belongings together signed myself out as fast as I could walked to the nearest bus stopped got on it all the way home never again the nurse gave no-one information about me being move not even the consultant & nurses where I was having my small op it so stressful hope & pray I never have to go back to that ward I think the only reason they moved me was because of the problems they had with the cannuala never had problems with them in any other hospital
