Care could not have been better by the whole colo-rectal team including nurses, specialist nurses, surgeon, post-op surgical ward staff and oncologist. Urology OPD: What let the hospital down dreadfully was the wholly inadequate Urology OPD follow-up to have the catheter removed. Trying to arrange the TWOC (Urology) appointment (should have been 10 days post-op) caused more stress to me than finding out I had cancer in the first place and going through recovery from 8 hours of surgery put together! When I did manage to get through to Urology (took several attempts to get through as no one was answering the phone), although the person I eventually spoke with was very nice, she told me I'd likely have at least another month to wait! This is completely unacceptable and seriously needs to be addressed by the hospital Trust. It was, in fact, once again, the Colo-rectal nurses who expedited an appointment to have the catheter removed within 3 days (14 days post-op). I really cannot thank them enough for all that they have done throughout the process.
