Waited 5 hrs to have wound cleaned, checked and redressed due to incompetent staff not arranging for me to having service available elsewhere (Shade - Ward manager amber b) will need to repeat tomorrow again

Suggested improvements
Change of management as current management have zero ideas on how to fix the hospital which has been in this state since it opened. Wasting public funds and endangering lives.

A&E sight was absolutely shocking! Firstly I was prescribed and given subcut morphine (a couple times) for pain relief which was the wrong drug for my condition even though I kept telling the drs & nurses that this was not on my care plan due to the fact that it does not help control my pain as well as oxycodone subcut. Dr in A&E expressed how not one member of staff in A&E that shift (including the nurse in charge and/or other drs) were able to find and access my sickle cell care plan on the computer. This made me extremely angry because not only did it completely delay my treatment of pain management, but I’ve been told time and time again by my consultant and other health professionals that sickle cell care plans are easily accessible for drs and the nurse in charge in A&E. Even though arriving before 2am, my care plan was only given by my sickle cell team who printed it out once they arrived to work at 9am. Only one Dr tried to help me find my care plan and prescribe my meds which was Dr Waqas - ED consultant. Her attitude was not the best but I appreciated her because she was the only one who responded to my cries and complaints. And this was only even because I made my way to the drs table to complain about my lack of pain management and being given the wrong pain medication. Then became a patient in the “hallway ward” around the corner. Not only did I feel completely embarrassed as people started at me in bed as they made their way through the hospital, either to work or visit someone, I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable especially as a sickle cell patient taking (strong opioids) and having no oxygen port available around me or any nurses to observe me. I had to constantly keep asking paramedics to ask for pain relief. The paramedics then started getting annoyed as I was on hourly prn and they kept using phrases like “the Nurse will come back”, “the nurse knows” even though it was a prn drug.

Suggested improvements
* Better care and pain management to suckle patients. * More training on sickle cell is needed for all healthcare professionals as no one in A&E seems to understand the severity of the disease * Training and information need to be given to A&E staff on how to access Sickle Cell care plans

Ms Manzouri was very attentive and during the operation she found that I needed a full anesthetic after the local anesthetic so she could continue her work. I was informed very quickly and everything went well, although it did take longer. I would recommend Ms Manzouri for anyone she was excellent. My partner however was waiting in the hospital and was not informed of the length of this hospital appointment. He was not aware that I had waited several hours after my initial operation time before it commenced, and then the other issues that took the operation much longer than expected. From the moment I was asked to arrive at the hospital till the time I was walking out of the hospital was 13hours. I feel that other staff at the information stations should have informed my partner better, despite him asking several time to different nurses and information people. Our car was in the hospital car park for over 13 hours.
