I was referred by my hub GP after visiting the surgery. Arrived in A&E at queens at 5.30pm. Was informed at checking in desk that will be given priority as been sent by GP due to suspected DVT. Although the blood test was done straight away didn't see the Dr till midnight ! Had been waiting a long time to be seen. I worked full-time for 47 years and looking at the state of NHS now I i could have wept
The waiting time in A&E is more then 28 hours this is my experience very poor communication, communication between staff and patients it is very bad
Nurses don't know how to talk with patients
I'm very disappointed very bad experience
From the moment the ambulance left me I sat on a chair at first staff seemed very helpful and understanding, where I was given painkillers and diazepam. And just left to it.
I then got moved to X-ray which was quick and efficient.
Then got taken to another department where I sat in corridor noone came to see me.
Sat there for 4 hrs I then had to ask a nurse for advice as needed to take my prescribed medication she told me do as you hve got to .
I explained I had not the right meds as was so unwell when the. Ambulance came she told me not her problem I should have been more prepared only reason there is not to hve your right bits is when u come in unconscious.
I asked for her name she wouldn’t tell me.
Another nurse came overheard apologised for the behaviour . I then sat crying and just wanted to leave but had a canular in.
When I was called in all my paperwork and everything had gone missing.
Doctor found it in the discharge pile .
I then asked them to take my cannula out as now had no trust in anyone.
While sitting the nice lady nurse came was so understanding and begged me to stay behind us was a full blown argument going on with doctors nurses and other workers screaming at eachother.
When my treatment started it was a task for nurses to find appropriate equipment after all treatment was done I was shown the door I said i didn’t feel well enough to walk the whole hospital but was told nothing more they could do goodbye.
I have lost total trust in queens hospital I’m disgusted what happened that night/day.
And definitely would rather suffer at home in silence which I hve been than EVER going back.
Ambulance staff were excellent, Hospital staff again excellent, food good.
Thank you for looking after me !
The staff was callous and didn't give any information about anything, we had to practically chase them to get any answers and even then, they would say anything to get rid of the patients and were avoiding them behind locked doors. I waited for over 9 hours in the emergency care unit with no information as to how much longer I would have to wait or what I was waiting for. We were waiting in the corrifor with a few chairs. The blood taking experience was traumatising and the whole experience of "emergency" care was extremely dehumanising.
The NIC who looked after me was compassionate, caring and very competent.
Fatu is her name. I have had bad experience at queen's before but this time, I'm saying keep it up Fatu and team, doctors, porters and all. Continue with the good work
I arrived with chest pain and pain in my both legs about 8.30. I was very quickly under their proper observation as required in this type of situation.
All the staff were very attentive at all times nothing as I got the right treatment in a timely fashion having said that you only go to A&E if you not feeling to good not to criticise the staff thanks for all you done
Na
I was there for 11 hours, But I had blood tests ECG, And a brain scan , So overall I was very pleased with the treatment,
