Well I went to see the specialist & following an MRI scan on both my knees the results weren’t to hand which was disappointing

Suggested improvements
Maybe told me that or promises my results would be given from the MRI scan?

The nurse that assessed me prior to my doctors consultation was very professional and kind. Helpful when going to other departments and very much aware of my disability (full prosthetic left limb) my mobility was limited No wheelchair available I believe it had to be ordered on line? ?

Suggested improvements
As a very busy hospital. I think the staff do the best they can with limited resources with no easy answers

Apart from on one occasion I was never convinced that the staff at each stage knew where I should be or why. My temperature and blood pressure were taken on 4 separate occasions as I was moved from one department to the next. The paperwork I arrived with made it clear that I had been referred to SDEC department, but of the 12 plus hours I spent there at least 5 were in different waiting areas. My GP surgery had contacted the neurology department and had been advised to send me to SDEC as an emergency. When eventually I was told to go home at about 6a.m, I had not heard anything from or seen anything of anyone from neurology. The whole process seemed badly organised involving excessively long waiting times and minimum information in very uncomfortable circumstances for numerous patients.

Suggested improvements
Patients could have been informed about approximate waiting times and dealt with more sympathetically. On entering A&E it would be most helpful if the staff at the reception positions were better trained to know where to send patients and how to deal with patients in a more assuring manner.

The staff … once we saw them were very good… the waiting time was horrendous

Suggested improvements
You need more staff to cope with the patients
