All the Doctors and nurses did excellently well. Thank you all for the care. Communication was very good. I truly appreciate. God bless the King.
Timely information wasn't given unless my friend made a point of asking for it
Initially on arrival the receiving Doctor implied I was faking my symptoms- I’d been in a tonic clonic seizure for over 2 hours and the paramedics had called ahead to get my Neuro team on board. The Nurses though stretched to the max, did what they could until my Neuro team took over. High praise to nurses just a shame the initial Doctor was so dismissive. I’ve progressive grade 3-4 Brain Cancer. How can I Fake symptoms?!
Excellent service received in a friendly timely fashion.
I was left in accident & emergency for 22hrs, given inaccurate information regarding the requirement for a chest X-ray and was not impressed.
Very good behaviour from the stuff
Very impressed with the care
I was looked after well in RAFTING even though they were extremely busy. Unfortunately I had to wait a very long time to be taken to a ward. I had an infusion & was on it for about 10 hrs before being moved.
The sister in charge when I was there was very good at organising everything & trying to get things moving & patients discharged quickly if needed.
I was left on a trolley in a corridor at A&E for 2 1/2 days with no idea what was happening. I am hard of hearing and very often struggled to understand or hear what the doctors were saying.
My family were not contacted at all during my stay at the hospital. They had no idea where I was in the hospital and the staff sent them away a few times. As someone who has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer. You can understand why having my family informed and being with me was so important.
My pain wasn't properly addressed until I went up to a ward. I was given painkillers via drips but I was still had intense pain throughout my time in the corridors. I was also kept nil by mouth for over 2 days as no one knew when my operation was. I then had to repeatedly ask for food, as I was absolutely starving hungry.
The physios came to see me in the corridor and were concerned that I will have a clot if i didn't have some medical intervention too. They were keen to get me moving but it was days before my pain was dealt with. The physio team were not happy about this.
Then I had a nerve block fitted in the storage cupboard of the theatre, as it was the only sterile place that was available at that time.
Whilst I was there the nurses and doctors were all arguing and crying due to the pressures of job and overcrowding. A procedure that should have been only 20 mins took over 2 1/2 hours, as the staff were upset and angry and no one knew what was happening. Which is why we ended up in the storage cupboard.
My family again were not contacted at any point to let them know that I was having a procedure and came to the hospital and were unable to find me.
Once on the ward, the staff were okay but the cleaners and HCA's would regularly come into the room and sit on the chairs to doze off. (Ocean B Bay 5)
The communication was slightly better on the ward. Although on the Friday I was told at I would be discharged early the following week and on the Saturday they rushed me out and I had to try and arrange transport home.
We only chose to come to Queen's as my cancer treatment is being dealt with them. At no point did I feel like I was treated with dignity or respect. It was an awful experience from start to finish. I am just so glad to be out of that place.
Ive made a full and complete recovery. We discussed the sucess's and that I'm now running again. Marvelous.
