Tests recommended were not carried out, as requested by my GP by phone and letter that day. Obs were not taken regularly, no communication for hours. Triage nurse asked for blood pressure to be taken, but ECG nurse refused, also her attitude was quite rude. Was told ECG was abnormal so was put in a wheelchair, when I finally saw a Dr he presumed I didn’t walk. Blood clots were suggested, by now I was feeling anxious as concerned about ECG results. Then consultant turned up and spoke about my past mental health about anxiety and depression which I personally had no idea what this had to do with my symptoms. He has no idea behind the reasons of my past. I Left the hospital very upset, still ill and very confused. So from queuing up from 10.30am to leaving gone 6pm I wonder what was the point !!!

Suggested improvements
Communication, communication, communication. I know that the X-ray and blood results were back quite a while before consultant spoke to me. If he felt my symptoms were due to anxiety then why leave me sitting there for hours worrying about abnormal ECG and blood clots. Maybe staff could do with some training in ‘people skills’. I believe that A&E needs a complete assessment because not one person I spoke to in A&E that day from first arriving to leaving felt as if they were being listened to or being sympathetically treated. We are all there due to feeling ill or in pain not from choice. Maybe it needs a non Medical person to go around assessing the department, speaking/listening to the patients and then chasing results and consulting with medical staff. Like a Matron on a ward years ago, someone has to take responsibility and be in charge. So much time is wasted. I must have been asked at least 5/6 times what are my symptoms that day. Use the A&E computerised system that what it’s there for, to record everything.
