We arrived in Queen's hospital at 4pm on Wednesday 1st of May with a letter from our GP because of distended bladder. My vital signs were taken by the nurse before being directed to go to another reception where we waited for another 2 hours before we were brought in another waiting room. There, my bloods were taken. And we waited for another 4 hours before we wee asked to move to another waiting room which was full. So we seated along the hallway. By then my partner asked the sister how long would we still wait to be seen by the doctor. She said at least another 9 hours more. He explained to her that we were told by our GP to go here immediately after seeing her and we had a letter. The sister said that everyone waiting to be seen by a doctor also have letters from their GP so we just have to wait. My partner explained we're both diabetic and have not eaten since brrakfast. She said that we could go out and est first. But when we arrived in the main lobby of the hospital, all food outlets were closed. So we decided just to go home. We informed the sister about this decision. And she said ok. We arrived home past 11pm. Despite our hunger, we just went to bed. The following morning, we received a voice message in both our phones asking me to come back to the hospital because my blood tests showned abnormal results. We came back at 11am abd waited for 37 hours in the A&E before I was admitted in a ward.

Suggested improvements
Better system in the A&E and being honest from the start. We were told, when we asked the receptionist how long we were to wait. She said about hour and a half, which was fine by us. But that was not the case in the end. Have we known, we could have gone to a different hospital
