My mum was on the ward without the offer or help of having a wash for 4 DAYS.. There was a delay in her discharge as the pharmacist had to sort out the change in dose of her medication, but when she was discharged the following day, she was only discharged with vitamins and morphine and not any of the amended doses of her regular medication ( some 7-8 meds) and wasnt allowed to take her blister pack with all her regular medication , they said because they had changed the dose, but this meant she had NONE of her medication. The decline of care is upsetting and unacceptable. Saw no staff handwashing between touching different patients

Suggested improvements
Communicate !! Don’t stretch staff so thin that they don’t feel able to do basic things like handwashing ! In handovers communicate to all grades of staff the importance of dignity and basic care, mums lack of personal hygiene care was blamed on agency nurses, but that’s not an excuse..
