Upon arrival at a&e where I was sent by 111, no one spoke to me. I sat down and waited nearly 3 hours before anyone even spoke to me and that was just to move me to majors lite. Still no one told me what was happening in terms of medication, given I had been sick continually for days and needed anti sickness medication desperately. I waited around another hour when I asked what was happening and got taken in for blood tests and some medication. Once this had finished I was merely told I had to go back out to the waiting area as they needed the chair I was in. No one asked if the medication had helped or how I was feeling. Just sent out. After waiting hour or so I asked what was happening and was told my blood results needed discussing with the doctor and this would be a further 3-5 hour wait. Given I was now having to sit on the floor on the waiting area I decided to return home and retrieve the results later from my GP which I did and found out I had a severe infection that needed antibiotics. I was at queens for a total of 8 hours 10pm-6am. Not once was I asked how I was feeling, or even really what the problem was. No one warned of the wait times or kept patients in the loop with what was happening with their care. The nurse in charge was clearly overworked and snapped at every patient who asked a question just saying they had to wait. Patient care was not at its best.

Suggested improvements
Kept patients more informed of wait times and what their own procedure was. As in if they were waiting for bloods or x rays, just tell people what you’re going to do! And check enough medication has been given to help the reason you are there! Not just given one lot and sent away
