My experience was absolutely shocking . I in receipt of chemotherapy and was admitted with a suspected infection . I advised that I had a medical alert card and should receive antibiotics immediately . Blood was not taken for two hours by which time if I had an infection I would have developed sepsis . Luckily I did not have an infection I also presented with heart problems and advised that my Chemo drug was potentially cardio toxic . I literally begged the nurses to ask the doctor to seek advice from oncology to avoid heart damage and they refused . Again fortunately it was not the case . No blood test was made to check if I had a heart attack . I did not see a doctor for 14 hours ( when he arrived he was efficient and helpful and kind ). My experience of the most of the nurses was a complete lack of compassion and humanity ( to me and other patients in distress ) No attempt was made to isolate or protect me in my immune compromised position and for two days i was surrounded by people coughing and vomiting and was forced to share a public toilet exposing me to significant risk . If either of the two conditions I was suspected of having had materialised then frankly I would have died . Absolutely and completely shocking
