I was in ward 7 for nearly 4 weeks. I couldn't have had better care from all the services. The physios were excellent, and helped so much with my movement. The Occupational therapist helped with my coordination, and cognitive skills. She was amazing, but the speech therapists were outstanding. I was on a feeding tube, unable to eat or even sip a half teaspoon of water. I was put on a feeding tube (ng) to start with. I got exercises to do with my mouth, which helped to strengthen my swallowing areas. In turn I was able to eat a yogurt for a wee while, then ice cream and then generally managed to eat more substantial food. I did put in the effort with all my exercises, but especially the ones from speech therapy, as I was so determined to eat properly again. Katie you are amazing. I was in a sideroom in ward 7, and all the staff couldn't have been nicer. The nurses were all very caring, and attentive. Nothing was too much for them. Working 12.5 hours per shift, I really don't know how they manage, some having to do extra shifts to make ends meet is awful after what they have to do. No matter what they still managed to smile by the end of their shift. Thank you so much for looking after me. Some days, I think I was spoiled by the auxiliary nurses too. They were so kind and helpful. The cleaners too were always chatty and friendly. If you do end up in ward 7, then you'll have a good stay, and will definitely be well looked after.
