The NNUH cancer care has been excellent. It is the support systems that let down the side. There are not enough nurses or ancillary staff. However, I found the many immigrant workers absolutely excellent. Highly proficient especially a particular Zimbabwean radiologist (outsourced`?)! Unfortunately, I had a very bad previous experience on the same CT scan with dye a year earlier from the regular NHS team 'in house'. They couldn't get the cannula in after x 3 times and I had to sign a disclaimer form. Then, when I got the result it said 'no stenosing mass' on the bowel only 'mild diverticulitis' signs. This led to delays such that by the time I was treated the rectal cancer had reached Stage 3. NNUH needs to check out their 'home grown' radiologists as some of them just aren't up to it, or it maybe that a nurse on this occasion, was stepping in.
