Pre op care was excellent; the operating team were amazing and Mr Dalton, consultant was the best surgeon l could possibly have got. On D5 ward following bi lateral total knee replacements l soon discovered a very mixed amount of care. One person stood out and that was an auxillary nurse who gave me the best possible care available on The NHS but there were so many errors, contradictions and a lack of communication between the differing staff and agencies eg physio, nursing, urology etc. I was often forgotten in my single room, staff would say "I will find out and come back and let you know", they never returned. I would be told the catheter was going to be removed first thing in the morning and it remained in place for two days, everything was inconsistent except for Mr Dalton who popped in every day. I was even sent home with someone elses tablets in with my own prescribed medication so it's clear to see why sadly so much is wrong with the NHS, it is fast becoming The No Health Service!
