I booked in at reception at about 9:50/55 for 10am chemo. I was given my wristband and went to sit in the prescribed area. Just after 10 the nurse came along and I wasn't called. I waited until after 10:30 when they came back I again wasn't called. My wife asked. I was told that I had not booked in! I felt at this point I was being blamed when there was a hiccup at the reception. My wife also tried speaking to the nurse who on 2 occasions completely ignored her - which we both thought was extremely rude. There is a simple way to overcome this hiccup. The person collecting the patients asks if EVERY patient due at a certain time if they are there - this would mean that all who were there would be picked up even if they had not booked in correctly - or that the reception desk forgot to tick it off. When you are due to be in the unit for upwards of 7 hours anyway any delay is very frustrating and when even one member of staff ignores you it doesn't help the mood. I SHOULD NOT be forced to enter my ethnic group as it is totally irrelevant I am very unhappy and so far it is the only time I have EVER been forced to fill it in!
