The A&E staff are very rude. I understand there is pressure but they are taking this out on patients and their carers. There is no communication and if you are asked a question you are barked at. I was so afraid to ask. At one point I had been shouted at 3 times to the point it made me cry. There should be compassionate staff who understand patients are humans. And their carers are concerned snd distressed. We were left waiting for over 10 hours. No one asked the patient if they wanted a hot drink or something to eat. Especially when he was 75 with multiple comorbidities. It’s awful.

Suggested improvements
Show care and compassion to both patients and staff. Don’t bark or shout at them. Communication is key. Everyone understands there pressure. Just tell us what’s happening and when things might happen Allow carers to accompany elderly patients who can’t communicate for themselves. It’s not always about not speaking English. It can be dementia or not able to say all the different things that are wrong with them. Offer patients water, hot drinks and food when they have been waiting over 6hours.
