My nana was in this hospital for quite a while.
Some of the staff were great but not very efficient.
My nana was not treated with dignity or respect as she was left waiting 45 mins to go to the toilet. And as for the cleaning that was a joke coffee stains on the floor for over a week the stairs leading to the ward hadn't been done for over a fortnight.
The visiting was also disgraceful, you get one hour in the afternoon and one in the evening and during this time doctors and nurses interrupt your visiting to weigh and do the blood pressure, and to finish off the parking is a rip off £1.20 per hour plus 60p on top because you are with the patient for an hour but then you have to get back to the car and if you don't pay this it is a £70 pound fine so no i would not recommend this hospital to my worst enemy.
my stay in hospital was fine with no complaints.
Please note that all scores above should be 100% right from the administrative staff to the nurses and Anita the Dietitian. All concerned looked after me with respect and dignity.
I was more than happy with the care I received during my time at North Tyneside General Hospital. The ward staff on Ward 7, pharmacy staff, theatre staff, Anita the bariatric dietician and the lovely Ann in the cashiers office have been both professional, caring and their support has been invaluable! The only downside was that I was in a side room and it did get a tad boring - the hospital pay as you view TV is extortionately expensive! Thatnk heavens I took my laptop and a good book in with me!
I had a good experiance today at this hospital
the main letdown of this hospital is the food. it is all brought in frozen and reheated in trolleys. the soups are powdered and reconstituted. it is horrible, dry, over/under cooked. there is not much choice for special dietary requirements and generally it is poor quality.
Ward was clean, staff were very good, if not looking slightly understaffed, but in all, it was all good
I was looked after extreamly well by each and every staff member on the ward. They were all friendly and caring, and all very understanding about the surgery i had. At the time of my admission i was sharing a bay with a very difficult lady, the nursing staff remained professional with this lady at all times despite the persistant difficulties and unpleasant manner that the patient presented with.
The nurses are really busy on Ward 7 and never stopped all of the time they were on duty. They did all however take the time to treat me with respect and cater for my needs after the operation.
