The Palliative Care Team made every effort to get my mother home for her last days but were unable to achieve this due to the lack of funding for front line Palliative nurses. It seemed to me that there are not enough trained nurses in the system for Palliative care at home to be taken up. Despite the care teams best efforts, even trying to get an agency nurse to cover a 5 hour slot, they could not get the required people in place so that my mother would have been able to spend her last hours in her home with one or more of her sons with her. Palliative Care requires more funding for it to work for the benefit of patients and relatives
