I would just like to say how pleased I was with the way that everyone on Edgcumbe Ward cared from my mum, from the day that she arrived until the day that she left. I was so worried when she was sectioned as it always (in my head anyway) has such awful connotations. However, this worry was so misplaced. Despite her erratic behaviour and her tendency in the first few months to verbally and physically abuse the staff, she was shown nothing but care and respect. The staff always had time to explain to me what was going on and to answer any questions that I may have. There was not one time when I didn’t feel that my mum’s needs were not being met in the most efficient manner but always with the utmost kindness and patience. As you know, I would have loved for my mum to live out the rest of the time that she has left with you at Edgcumbe, but I do understand why this could not be the case. So I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to pass on my deepest thanks to all of the staff on Edgcumbe for the fantastic care that they provided for mum, who never failed to be friendly and approachable, no matter how busy and under pressure that she was. Everyone on the ward is a brilliant example of what makes the NHS so wonderful despite the constant pressures that it constantly experiences. With kindest regards and deepest thanks to everyone on Edgcumbe Ward
