[Name Removed] has been supportive and understanding from the very first time we met her. We felt she really took time to get to know [Name Removed], asked us thoughtful questions and listened to our concerns, then provided advice that literally changed our lives. [Name Removed] went above and beyond with techniques to try, both at home and at pre school. Pre school said they’d never received so much instruction or help from a SALT before and were really impressed. We feel she always has [Name Removed]’s best interests at heart and never pushes him (or us) to achieve any standards or tick any boxes, but just to go at a pace he was happy with and was responding to. I was able to contact [Name Removed] to ask for advice, which I did several times! She is always professional, highly knowledgeable and approachable. [Name Removed] worked out that [Name Removed] absolutely loves exciting, animated, sing song type communication with repetitive phrases instead of single words. Well, as soon as we communicated like this along with encouraging the usual gestures and actions [Name Removed] felt safe with, the speech just started to pour out of him! [Name Removed] has been officially speaking since December 2025. It was the most magical Christmas of our lives, I’m emotional writing this now. We now play games together and I can understand and fulfil most of [Name Removed]’s needs with very little upset on his part. [Name Removed] has autism so for him, being able to talk really has made his world come to life. It’s amazing to know what’s been in his head all these years. He now feels heard and safe and is excited by every day life. He asks us every single day for “10 dinosaurs” and to go to the zoo! [Name Removed] only had a few single words and cried all the time, even self harming sometimes from frustration before he could speak. He’s such a happy little boy now. Speech and language has been a therapy we as a family will value for our whole lives. I’m now using the things I’ve learned with my younger child too, out of habit. He loves the bubbles game [Name Removed] gave us, he goes to get the bubbles, points and says “there” and “again” at just 16 months old. Thank you [Name Removed], we will miss you lots!

[Name Removed] only started with Winchcombe School in September this year, we can already notice the level of involvement and professionalism from the school.
