Review of Peale Ward written by a patient
19th October 2017

A truly outstanding ward where my care was superb ! The Peale Ward is headed up by Hilary Bulmer who leads a very efficient and friendly team. They work so well together and the team work is clear for all to see. The atmosphere is very friendly and they all get on well together and care so much in making a patients stay a good experience. Hilary put me at ease and made sure the right people came to see me and any of my concerns were voiced and dealt with. I entered the ward at 10pm after being in A & E. I was understandably not in a very good position and quite worried. Josh took care of me straight away and reassured me. All the team were great particularly Hilary Bulmer, Dr Omar J, a consultant or senior doctor who had treated me also in A & E ( sorry to forget your name( plus Michelle, Yvonne and Olivia. Outstanding Care, outstanding Service.

Review of Birthing Centre (Maidstone) written by a patient
19th October 2017

I have used Maidstone Birthing Centre for having both of my children and I cannot fault the experience at all. I would recommend this service to any low risk expectant mother as it made the whole labour experience a comfortable one. The staff on both occasions were fantastic. I could not have wished for a better experience for both births.

Review of Chaucer written by a carer
15th October 2017

15/10/2017 I am afraid that the care my wife got was not good and not what I would have expected from our once great NHS My wife has had Dementia and been diagnosed for over six years My wife collapsed Thursday the 5th Oct I called 999 and she was taken into Maidstone Hospital they could not find any problems but said that it was possible low blood pressure and she was sent home Friday and Saturday she seemed very tired Sunday she kept falling asleep and it was a job to wake her up so I called 111 the ambulance came done an ECG and other tests and said she had an irregular heart beat and her heart was very slow and she was taken back into hospital and they done more tests she had a brain scan and stayed in for further tests they changed her tablets but I am not sure what other conclusions they came to I brought my wife home on the 10th Oct but we waited about three hours for her medication and discharge notice time we got home i had to shower my wife as she had diarrhoea I manage to get her into the shower but with great difficulty as one of her leg is swollen up she is having a problem putting weight on it and walking I got her nice and clean and put her to bed but the same thing happened in the morning all the bed was soiled right through and I managed to get her into the shower again. .She never went in with Diarrhoea or a swollen leg but I have had to put up with for five days already and as she can hardly walk you can guess I am in a bit of a state and I am eighty two years old my wife seventy five. This is the third time that my wife after coming out of hospital that we have been let down. I have contacted the doctor to try and get some help from social services he put in a referral for me with urgent on it but up until today 15th Oct I have heard nothing from anyone Mr R young

Review of Birthing Centre (Maidstone) written by a patient
7th October 2017

i was very anxious about giving birth but the compassion, encouragement and support provided by the staff really helped me in my labour and gave me a birth experience I could only have dreamt of. The centre was also spotlessly clean. The staff also really supported me and my son to establish breastfeeding and was always very patient with us. Thank you to everyone and we will be back!

Review of Emergency Care Centre written by a patient
6th October 2017

I went to the ECC with a burnt hand. The centre was nearly full when I arrived. The receptionist advised me that I should hold the burn under running water for a while: it certainly relieved the pain. I was told that I should expect a wait of about one hour before I was triaged. This was a pretty accurate assessment and I was then told that it would be about another hour before I received treatment. This time the estimate was a tad optimistic but I was eventually seen by Alice Brown. After a thorough background check of my medical history and the story of how the burn came out, she explained that there was no specialist burns unit at Maidstone. She took a photo of the burn and sent it East Grinstead Hospital for their advice. About twenty minutes later, advice came back and she was able to remove the blistered skin from the burn in a quite painless procedure. She then dressed the burn, told be not to get the dressing wet and to have the dressing changed by my GP. I was particularly impressed that she washed her hands several times while I was being treated.

Professional, friendly, approachable, excellent advice from receptionist(s) to Claire - nurse practitioner. I don't want to come here again but if I had to I would feel safe and cared for.
