24th December 2020

On Sunday the 22nd of December my wife had to ring 999 due to the fact I was having a heart attack, the ambulance was at my house within 5 minutes and the paramedic confirmed that I was having a heart attack, I was taken to Wythenshaw Hospital where I was fitted with a Stent because of a blocked artery, this was at 11-30 pm, I was then transferred to Macclesfield District General Hospital, arriving at 01-30 hrs, I was taken to the Coronary Care Unit where I was met by the night staff nurses, they really put me at ease after such a horrendous few hours, the first thing the did after putting me to bed was to make me a much needed cup of tea, they also offered to get me something to eat but I was not hungry. I spent 4 days on the ward and at no time did I feel unsafe due to the Covid 19, every single member of staff including the consultants, nurses and cleaners put the patients first, everything I asked for was done for me and the other patients, nothing was too much trouble even though all the staff were working behind closed doors, even the staff could not go beyond the main entrance unless the were going home, at this time during this Covid outbreak the staff are working so very hard to keep themselves and more so the patients as safe as possible, they really are the Angels Of Mercy and without them things would surely be a lot worse, the pressure all the staff are working under is tremendous but they still put the patients first. I say God Bless every one of them, without them I and a lot of other people may not be here today. Thank you MDGH for your superb care and your cleanliness and good food. Mr Philip Kimpton Macclesfield

I received excellent care from the AAU at Macclesfield General today. From initial referral from my GP at 10.45 my treatment was successfully completed within the day, including blood tests and results, x-ray, consultant review and procedure and discharge. All the staff I had contact with from the receptionist to consultant were brilliant. The receptionist even took the time to make toast and tea for me and my wife as we had missed breakfast. Overall care was impeccable and I mean care not just a service. Thank you and well done |

I received incredible care & support from from the ophthalmic team (cataract) on 04/06/19 and the team who performed surgery in August.A month on I can only say the results are amazing. The only pain I suffered was from the harsh metal edge of the theatre trolley exiting it (back of upper legs)Superglue Dense foam to all such trolleys ?.No pain incredible results, each & every member of staff friendly cheerful knowledgable and gave 110% impossible to improve on perfection.

Just came in as a day surgery patient under the care of eye specialist, Mr.Nolan. He and his nursing/care team worked professionally, diligently and importantly with care and empathy. Thank you for your time and care. This is the second time I have experienced day case surgery at Macclesfield. What a great facility.

My mother in law was sent by her GP to the AAU and they were brilliant. Dr O'Brien was lovely and explained things to us and Dr Tefler gave us confidence in what was the matter with her and the treatment she needed. She was admitted to Ward 9 and all the staff were very kind and treated her very well. Thank you to every one we dealt with.

Review of Specialist Palliative Care Team - Community written by a family member

The palliative team have been very supportive in liasing between medical/care services. They have been particularly effective in smoothing over issues created by brusque and matter-of-fact statements made by surgical consultants. Perhaps there could be some emotional literacy training for registrars?

I attended A&E at Macclesfield at 5:45am on 5th February, i was quickly attended to and then i met the Doctor who was called Andy, he then examined me and from that point on i was looked after with complete professionalism, after 90 minutes all my tests were back and explained to me thoroughly and in detail, the team on that morning from the nurse's that took my ECG, X ray and bloods etc.. are a credit to not only Macclesfield Hospital but also the NHS. I never write reviews but this deserved a Thank you!
