My husband has rectal cancer and cannot sit and in a lot of pain in the rectum. When telling the nurse that he was in pain he was asked WHAT PAIN RELIEF DO YOU WANT, surely they should know what he can have especially as he has a morphine pump for an operation he had to have a stoma bag?? He has tubes in his kidneys to help them drain and when asking for help to get in or out of bed they offer no assistance other than to say CANT YOU LIFT YOUR LEGS which the nurse can see are heavily swollen with urine bags strapped to him. He had one nurse tell him, I've bought in 2 bags of antibiotics in the night let me know when the one has drained and I will come and change it. Surely the nurse should be checking it!! There seems to be a lot of agency staff in the evening, the care in the profession seems to be heavily lacking which is horrendous as I'm pretty sure people do not want to be in hospital.
