Written by a patient

I received excellent care in 2008-9 as an in-patient and subsequent follow-up. The ward staff were kind, considerate and caring. These scores are not higher on account of lowered confidence when admitted twice over weekends. I was alarmed when surgery for adhesions was eventually stated as so necessary late on a Saturday evening that I was greeted by a clearly tired, blood spattered Iranian Registrar with whom I couldn't communicate. This is not an exaggeration. The outcome was fine but it was very frightening at the time. I also feel that my late diagnosis for Bowel Cancer could have been picked up earlier at A&E had my history and comments been considered more carefully. I have wondered if an earlier appendectomy may have been a misdiagnosis for the early signs of bowel cancer. This is set against appalling experience of Dr Bradley and Dr Adeniji of Park Road Surgery Teddington who patronisingly insisted that my symptoms for Bowel Cancer were psychosomatic IBS.
