We've just had our first baby, and the entire pregnancy and birth was dealt with at Kingston Hospital. The care up to the point of the birth was excellent, we felt the midwives were very switched on and answered any questions we had. The birth itself was a perfect experience in terms of all the people that we dealt with, from start to finish. We had 2 midwives (Susan and Sheena), both of whom were exceptionally good, keeping us informed of what was happening and providing us with the options open to us. It wasn't an easy birth, with us needing an epidural and ultimately an emergency c-section - but every member of staff was incredibly supportive and gave us information to make the right choices. When our baby was born he didn't breathe for about a minute, so as you can imagine we are eternally grateful to the staff who resuscitated him in the theatre. The after care was also absolutely brilliant. Our baby had to spend almost a week in the Neo Natal ward, but the staff there were top notch and looked after him (and helped us to look after him) perfectly. Again, we were always well informed and felt 100% comfortable with the care he was receiving. Everybody, from the midwives to the support staff, pediatricians and nurses were absolutely fantastic and made us feel at ease at what would otherwise been a fairly traumatic time. I can't recommend them enough!
