I was waiting quite a while to be booked in, then I had to wait again as no bed was ready. I was told I would be there for 2-3 hours, but went past the 3 hour point. The nurses were good, but the doctor that carried out my procedure, appeared to be in a rush and was not very caring. My procedure was extremely traumatic, he was unable to complete it fully, and then said he had offered more sedation which was a lie. I could literally feel everything he did, and it felt like a blunt piece of plastic was being pushed against the edges of my throat. I cried during the procedure due to the pain, and was told quite boldly that I needed to calm down. I have had this procedure twice before and have never experienced this kind of pain. I complained when I returned to the ward and was given information about taking it further by the ward sister. She said I could complete a paper version of this survey, but did not tell me I could do it online. I only discovered this by taking the paper copy away with me. She also gave me details about pals. For 3 days after I could hardly swallow, my throat looked red raw, and I had lots of what looked like burst blood vessels all across the back
the staff were absolutely fantastic
