I have recently had to undergo surgery at King Georges Hospital, my arrival time was specified to be 07:30, I arrived at 07:00. After the initial pre assessment i was left sitting in a chair until I was taken down for surgery at 14:00 with absoloutely no information on what was happening, i was told I "just had to wait" for 7hours !! After my operation I had to use a catheter, Ive never had a catheter before so this was quite daunting. I was given NO instuction or help at all, after a cup of tea and a sandwhich I was handed a bag and told i could get dressed, i just want to reiterate the part where I was offered no help or instruction on how to use a catheter, I actually put the bag on upside down. My partner was called and told they could pick me up, I was given my discharge papers and although I had requested a sick note at my pre op and at the pre assessment this was not provided, I asked the nurse as I was leaving if I should have a spare bag or any supplies as I had been told that I would need to use the catheter for at least a week, the nurse handed me a bag containing 3 packs of gloves, thats right, 3 packets of gloves. The day after my operation I was called by the district nurse and informed that they wouldn't actually be visiting until after the catheter had been removed, in a week. I have had to purchase my own supplies from Amazon, spare bags, night bags, cleaning wipes etc and to then have to spend time on Google reading about care and maintenence, All this after being told by the nurse at the Hospital that there is a very high chance of infection, go figure. On the subject of infection after surgery my cannula had become detatched, the nurses absolutely refused to re dress or remove it so it just kinda flapped about for a few hours while I was waiting to go home, it's nearly a week since my operation and my hand (where the cannula was) is still very black

Suggested improvements
If I, Joe public, have to tell you, Healthcare proffessionals, what you should of done better in this situation I don't feel you should be in this line of work
