Because you asked for it.

Suggested improvements
Knowing I,m in pain could have done something instead of me waiting for appointments to see specialist consultants for which I have still not got any appointments.

Review of King George’s - Accident & Emergency

All staff were polite and helpful. It was good to get tea/coffee considering very long wait. Obs were taken regularly so did not feel forgotten.

Suggested improvements
Very long wait to see doctor and get treatment. I believe delay was partly in waiting for a bed for an enema. Waited for 5 hours before seeing a doctor. And left A&E after 8 hours after arrival.

Dr Faris connects well with patients. He kept encouraging me especially when I felt low and he informed me of any update regarding my health while at the hospital. The nurses, student nurses, carers: Naheece, Mark, Andrea, Ellen, Sinead, Kate, Alex, Agnes, Naomi, Catherine, Kinga and a few others i can't seem to remember their names. The amount of care and compassion they showed (especially the first three mentioned), is one I can't forget. They countered my initial negative beliefs of how hospitals and the staff behave. My admission was 04/06/24. The day and night staff at bay 3, Iris ward on that day and the next are the best and deserve to be recognised. Well done team!

Suggested improvements
I honestly can't find any flaws. There were times the staff were short and those around seem to work extra time even when they had to be back at work the next day, but everyone covered as much as they could. The standards did not drop and that showed a high level or professionalism. Yes, not everyone was perfect but the near perfect ones covered the gaps. If anything, we need more hands at the hospital.

Review of Japonica Ward
14th June 2024

Brilliant service from cleaner to consultant. Kind, professional and cheerful. Can’t fault the treatment I received. Recovery is going faster than I anticipated,, obviously the treatment I received was excellent.

Suggested improvements
This is the only constructive comment I can make. I would have been useful to be able to access a guesstimate of where I was in the queue for treatment, just to allow me to plan my life. ( E.g. log into my NHS records ) If for example you could access your case file and see that anticipated surgery would take place in 1-3 months, 3-6 months or 9-12 months. With a comments option for date to avoid and any other information that would make your and my planning more efficient.

I arrived for a 7.30 am appointment and was left in the waiting room until 11.00am. Then taken to a bed and was told by my nurse that there was 4 in front of me. At 5.00pm I was still waiting with no information from the sister in charge. I had been nil by mouth since 10.00pm the night before. I eventually went for my procedure and then taken to a ward where my blood pressure was 198. It was know too late to eat anything other than a biscuit and a cup of tea. I eventually had breakfast the next morning at 9.30 am.

Suggested improvements
Kept me informed of what was going on. The sister in charge just seemed to be avoiding me. The nurses kept asking for me but nothing was happening. What didn’t help I received an email just after I got to King George’s that my appointment had been cancelled on Patients Know Best. I am still awaiting a reply about that as well.
