21st February 2024

I was unexpectedly diagnosed with colon cancer for which I had no symptoms after returning a bowel screening kit in January 2024. From the moment the abnormality was detected through to surgery I was treated with kindness, empathy, compassion and most importantly at pace. I really felt that I mattered. I know my treatment was a huge effort involving many health professionals and teams, including nurses, diagnostics, surgical and ITU teams. However, I feel such gratitude that I was put under the care of Mr Aman Bhargava my surgeon and his team. He gave me and my family hope when I was at my lowest and fearful for the future. I am grateful for his surgical knowledge and expertise. His compassion and communication skills are exceptional. He was approachable and so very kind to me and my family. I really never expected such compassion from my surgeon. After a long day of surgery he personally called my family to let them know the operation went well. This alone gave my elder brother peace of mind as he was beside himself with worry for me. It displays to me a great dedication to one's patients to maintain such high standards. My recovery is going so well and it's not even been a week since my right hemicolectomy surgery. I am mobile and everything is in good working order. I could not have been in better hands. Thank you to everyone involved in my health journey and in particular to Mr Bhargava and his surgical team.

Suggested improvements
I cannot fault the service I received. Communication and treatment was second to none.
