I think my stay on the ward has been absolutely atrocious. First of all I noticed that I had a few things missing from my room when I reported it missing the staff got quite on the defensive and were snappy and didn't even do anything about it! Second of all when I was having a bath there was one male staff member who suddenly barged into the bathroom were it clearly said 'Bathroom'. Then to prevent it happening again the next time I put a bin in the bathroom against the door. When I did that in came another MALE member who couldn't see when he unlocked the door so he moved the bin by pushing on the door until we made eye contact! I felt scared, upset and uncomfortable afterwards and what made my experiences worse is that the psychiatrist said it was a 'mistake'. I was mortified. I also have noticed with the staff members is that they talk and make nasty comments amongst each other when one said a comment in front of me and then turned to me to make sure I didn't hear as they were meant to assist to me. I could go on and on. But I have got a really big list of suggestions for these so called nurses to up there standards. So will cut it down. My advice to them is - To be friendly and welcoming to ALL patients To accept constructive criticism To accept the wronging that they have done To have more courses on understanding adults with mental health problems To be more open. I hope this helped and that no one else will go through what I have been through with them. Thank you :D!
