My Wife came for a C-section and staff throughout were absolutely awesome in particular our Midwife Jo, the anesthetists Rona and Tracey and Gladys who's role I'm not sure of due to my lack of knowledge when it come to major operations. The level of professionalism, warmth and sense of humour made what could have been a very scary operation into something we will remember fondly. One major gripe however would be that my wife and I are vegan and there were no vegan options other than sides available. This was the same on the ward as well as the canteen. As vegans this was a problem but it would also have been an issue for someone with an allergy to dairy. It saddens me that the Vegan diet is catered for in prison but is not catered for in a hospital. Further to this I find it very unsettling that a Hospital is not promoting a healthy diet but instead is encouraging patients to eat food that is full of carcinogens (thankfully I don't think HRI has a cancer ward). The vagan diet is becoming ever popular and seems to be catered for all across Hull and for that reason we ordered takeaway instead.
