Hinchingbrooke has always been my main hospital. I had cancer treatment there 26 years ago and continue to use the services there. I think the staff and medical professionals are excellent.

The treatment centre was clean, bright and comfortable. I was seen before my scheduled appointment time. The atmosphere was calm and professional.

I would emphasise that this review applies ONLY to the RECEPTIONIST at Hinchingbrooke A&E. I presented in the early hours and informed her I had a rash with the possibility of allergic reaction to antibiotics or the possibility of SEPSIS. I was told to take a seat and a nurse would be "with me shortly". ONE HOUR LATER I am still sitting there and had not been triaged. I queried this and asked what she had put on the system. She walked away without answering ! She then returned and said I would be seen straightaway. I asked her again what she had put on the system. She muttered, "A rash". When I queried why she had not entered possible allergic reaction and possible SEPSIS she muttered she "would add it on now". I was then taken straight through to the medical staff side in less than two minutes and had barely sat down before they were doing an ECG and taking bloods, At least the doctors and nurses took the matter seriously and were all very pleasant and helpful. Ambulances have notices displayed on the side about sepsis and there are notices placed in various places. It is potentially a very serious matter and can be life threatening yet this receptionist chose to trivialise it as "a rash". If I had considered it to be just "a rash" I would have waited until Monday and seen my GP. Having seen my GP earlier in the week and given two options - going into hospital and be placed on an intravenous drip because he was concerned about the possibility of SEPSIS, or, going on strong antibiotics for two weeks but to immediately go to A&E if my condition worsened. This receptionist is both negligent and incompetent and could put patients lives in danger by her trivialising patients symptoms.

I needed to attend Hinchingbrooke A&E at 0445 on a Sunday morning. My review is for the nurses and doctor who took great care of me whilst I was in the department and took my need for urgent assistance very seriously. All were very friendly, understanding and helpful. Full 5 stars to all of them. (This does not, however, extend to the receptionist whom trivialised my concerns and displayed incompetence and negligence.)

What an amazing hospital, I was in Birch ward, which was clean and the care from all staff was excellent. Staff were aware of patient needs and these were dealt with in a timely manner. As a patient I was listened to and asked if I required pain relief but this was not pushed it I didn't require it. I encountered a friendly attitude from all staff, Dr's, nurses, theatre staff and cleaners, nothing seemed too much trouble. I particularly liked the interaction of the staff among themselves. I didn't hear or witness any grumbles or moans, everyone appeared to enjoy their job. The food was very good with a wide selection on the menu and ample portions.

A first class experience from the moment I entered the hospital to the moment I left - and beyond. As a day zero patient I was well looked after remotely. I can't speak more highly of my experience.,
