5th February 2021: I had a stroke early morning at home - we called 999 and paramedics were here in 8 minutes, even though we live in a village 12 miles from Hereford. They were highly skilled and very reassuring, assessed me, then rushed me to Hereford hospital where the Acute Stroke Team were waiting - apparently strokes are time critical. Everything happened extremely quickly, cannulas in, leads attached, CT scan and then the amazing "clot busting drug". My stroke symptoms disappeared more or less as I watched. I was then wheeled up to the acute stroke unit where I spent 5 days after which I was able to walk out as though nothing had happened. WOW - I am so thankful for the amazing treatment I had from start to finish. The expertise, professionalism and caring of all the staff involved was absolutely amazing. I can't thank you all enough. How people can knock the NHS I just don't know - you are always there for us when we need you despite all the pressures of Covid. Thank You!!
