This hospital was good. The staff esspecially nurses and volunteers were excellent. the doctors we're not that Great.
My son was treated in sdec today. All the staff were wonderful and seemed to care greatly about us I would like to say a big thank you to them all
The worst hospital visit in my life. Admitted via ambulance to A&E to be left 6hours in a chair. Then told they were waiting for my blood test results - they hadn’t taken any. A doc just came in and asked me which ankle I’ve broken when I was admitted for several vomiting. Was offered one drink of water throughout the 8 hours I was there. Absolute disgrace nurses sitting in waiting room talking about how bored they were and had nothing to do. One nurse discussing her wedding plans for @5hours. At one stage 3 of them were doing each others blood pressure in waiting room.
I have recently been on Wye Ward an experience I cannot praise enough ,the staff (Summy and Frith two names I remember ) were absolutely brilliant kept me updated at all times and the way they all work together is absolutely amazing, they are a real team !
.Sadly I can’t say a good word for the food (realising it isn’t a hotel ) it is absolutely disgusting, unappetising and cold .
But there is always a bonus ,I lost 6lb
5th February 2021:
I had a stroke early morning at home - we called 999 and paramedics were here in 8 minutes, even though we live in a village 12 miles from Hereford. They were highly skilled and very reassuring, assessed me, then rushed me to Hereford hospital where the Acute Stroke Team were waiting - apparently strokes are time critical. Everything happened extremely quickly, cannulas in, leads attached, CT scan and then the amazing "clot busting drug". My stroke symptoms disappeared more or less as I watched.
I was then wheeled up to the acute stroke unit where I spent 5 days after which I was able to walk out as though nothing had happened. WOW - I am so thankful for the amazing treatment I had from start to finish. The expertise, professionalism and caring of all the staff involved was absolutely amazing. I can't thank you all enough.
How people can knock the NHS I just don't know - you are always there for us when we need you despite all the pressures of Covid. Thank You!!
i have had 4 bad experiences at hereford hospital the worst been orthopaedics' really bad and the ward i was in for 5 days was not cleaned apart from someone walking up and down with a long mop my table was covered in cup ring marks sticky the lamp above my bed on the back was think with greasy dust i went for a second op on my foot in gloucester to repair what hereford had done and they did a brilliant job hereford refused to re op on it i had to go in 2 weeks ago and and begged the paramedics not to take me there but they had no choice they told me at 2am in the morning was in pjs and no way of getting home to ross in the end they did pay for a taxi but they put the stress onto you worrying what you are going to do with my health problems and age they just make you feel worst the only decent department i go to there is cardiology i go to gloucester for everything else
It is now just over a year since I was seen routinely in Day Surgery for a bladder stone removal (Cystoscopy under GA). I am still incontinent as a result and am waiting for surgery (in Cardiff) to improve this. The whole experience has been a disaster and the follow-up a real struggle, but thankfully I have been referred to Cardiff University Hospital. The response by Mr Mahmalji (Consultant surgeon) to an official complaint took many months to deliver a response which denied anything went wrong and it was just one of those things. My advice would be to avoid the Hereford Urology department like the plague and choose another hospital for surgery. The CQC assessment for Hereford tells a story of inadequacy (not even "requires improvement" but "inadequate") in leadership and safety for surgery, do read the latest CQC report. My quality of life has been severely harmed by just half an hour in this surgeon's hands.
A visit to A & E by Ambulance with my disabled daughter was going to be a daunting experience??
NO
Every person we met when there was kind, considerate and very caring towards my daughter and myself.
They gave us lots of time and understood our situation with the best care ,
Well done to all of the staff and the Ambulance crew
Great service provided by the staff, we were treated with compassion, kindness and the utmost care.
Thanks to all today at a&e. Came off motorbike off roading and hurt my ankle. My fault ! Too old and too daft but they helped me out and treated me well despite dealing with lots more important things. Great people and many thank to Jan and her colleagues whose names I sadly didn’t catch.
