Got an appointment booked through 111. When we arrived was told the appointment hadn’t been made so had to wait another 45 minutes with a poorly child.

Care was exceptional as always. I have battled with my Doctors for 5 months following the birth of my daughter to be diagnosed and treated for PID however was never examined properly amongst other things. I felt so unwell with the infection I attended the Fleetwood Health Centre. The Doctor I saw took time to go through my notes and listened to my symptoms. He examined me and agreed I had PID and prescription me the appropriate antibiotics. I wasn't rushed and he was very thorough, professional and caring. This should have been he treatment I received at my Doctors surgery however I spent the first 5 months of my baby being here feeling unnecessarily unwell. Always extremely impressed with the service at this Health Centre. Thank you.

The male doctor I saw was condescending and unprofessional. He left another patients urine sample in a dish in a room and once I spotted, he had to leave our consultation to clean up. He didn’t listen to my concerns despite longstanding health conditions. He mocked me when I asked if it could be related to a longstanding health issue and asked if I knew the difference between two body parts. He told me it was nothing ‘sinister’ based on a urine sample which was abnormal. Doctors shouldn’t make flippant statements like that when they haven’t done a full examination. He needs training.

Suggested improvements
The practice is great itself and I’ve never had problems in the past but this one doctor lets the place down entirely and has put me off trusting the care given here. The male doctor should be trained.

I arrived having booked an appointment time via the 0300 123 1144 triage number. I asked on arrival did the centre do eye irrigation and was told they thought so. I then sat and waited and an hr later was called in. The lady who called me in had navy scrubs on with no name badge and didn't introduce herself so I didn't know whether she was a Dr or a practitioner. She asked what happened and what was my expectations. I'd said I thought possibly I may need my eyes irrigated and the pH checked which she said they don't do this at Fleetwood UTC now it's only in A/E. So adv me to go there. If I'd have known this I would have gone straight there as my eyes were stinging by then having gone straight there without rinsing them first as I had been on my way to work. The 0300 team could be updated to say they don't irrigate eyes now only at A/E.

Suggested improvements
The booking agent could be aware that UTC doesn't irrigate eyes and the clinician I saw should have introduced themselves.

My daughter has autism and leaning difficulty abd she had to have bloods taken. I felt staff had limited understanding of learning difficulties. The procedure was not explicitly explained. She was treated as her chronological age rather than that of a much younger child. The staff didn't use fun or any distraction techniques to help. My child was distressed and no bloods were obtained. This isn't a criticism. Staff were kind and professional. To be competent in caring for this group of people requires training and exposure. Learning disabilities and autism training is accessible. If your service were to strive to better care this is an area you could develop for staff. Perhaps learning disabilities could be identified at desk and then a passport explaining how you can best cater for their disabilities be filled out by their carer and then the clinical team can be aware when they see them.

Suggested improvements
The blackpool vic have a learning disabilities passport scheme I'm sure you could link in with them
