Review of Fylde and Wyre Wound Care Centre
28th December 2023

Because I have all the indicated conditions. The staff were fantastic, lovely ladies, very helpful. Went above and beyond for me, due to the position of my wound it required daily changes and sometime more than once a day, I was five advise and instructed on changing it myself when required and was given supplies. Thank you so much ladies, the experience was much easier due to your care, compassion and quality of seevice

Suggested improvements
Wait time on arrival was sometime a maximum of 30 min wait but I refer that and quality care, rather than being rushed and treated as a number ! Due to the care given my experience was personal and I was immediately put at ease and reassured

Review of Fleetwood Urgent Treatment Centre
28th December 2023

I had an infection in a wound following surgery. I was told the wound was fine and wait and see. I asked for a second opinion because I was not leaving without being treated and had to insist on antibiotics or I would not leave. I was not listened to by the nurse (who didn't even examine me) or by the health care assistant who told the nurse I was fine. The next day the wound reopened due to the amount of infection inside but I didn't feel comfortable going back to the urgent treatment centre given the "couldn't care less" attitude I had already had the previous day. I had to therefore close the wound and care for it myself. When I asked for a second opinion the receptionists were talking about me whilst I was stood in front of them, sharing my details between themselves with one leaning over to watch what the other was typing. I asked why that was happening and they denied it despite me standing witnessing it myself. I reminded them I have a right to confidentiality and they again denied they were talking about me or looking at what was being typed about me on the screen. I was treated like I didn't matter by every single member of staff I encountered, no respect for me as a person and no dignity in my care. I was lied to numerous times and told I was wrong. I came away crying because of the absolute lack of care I was shown and I am disgusted to live in a country where people treat others like this. I wish I could make a complaint about it but I am shown time and time again that I don't matter and I am lied to about everything

Suggested improvements
I could have been listened to by staff. The nurse could have examined me and seen the infection I had. I could have been given antibiotics without me having to repeat several times that they were needed. Staff could have not spoken about me less than a meter away from me, also not lied about it when I asked why they were doing that. Staff could have not read what was being typed about me on the computer screen by leaning over in her seat and staring at the screen and commenting on what was being put there. I could have been treated like an actual person in pain and was suffering and needed help, rather than an inconvenience and fobbed off to get rid of me without even checking whether I was ok or not.

Appointment made by 111 service for 11.15 on 24/12/2023-Not seen until 12:45. Service by nurse and her colleague for second opinion was very empathetic and immediate referral to STEC @ Blackpool Victoria. Unsure of diagnosis which turned out to be Shingles

Suggested improvements
Prioritise severity of conditions rather than age of patient.Numerous children under 5 without appointments were seen in preference to people with appointments ,mainly elderly who seemed to be in distress.
