I recently required an operation at Epsom General Hospital. I cannot speak highly enough concerning the level of care I received, from my first contact with admissions, who were very helpful , thru to my Pre Operative appointment, then the various outpatient departments and up onto the ward. On the wards, the level of care couldn’t be faltered; the nurses were professional, friendly, considerate and kind. I have only one area that I feel needs improvement, and that is the automated ‘reminder’ of an upcoming appointment. On answering the phone a long pause was first experienced, leading me to think that the caller had hung up. This was followed by a chiming sound, which had me thinking it was someone selling something! I was just about to hang up myself, when a recorded voice message alerted me for the need to confirm my appointment. If the introduction to this call could be improved the service would be ideal. Continuing on with a positive note, I was also offered an opportunity to attend a two hour course on how to maintain my health after the operation, this was invaluable, and a service that not only educated me, but offered me the chance to maintain my health over the longer term – truly forward thinking! This is the first time I have used the NHS, and I was truly impressed with my level of care, thank you.
