If you can avoid this hospital do so. It's been my local hospital for the last 9 years and I've now withdrawn consent to be treated there even or especially in an emergency. The lack of respect for patients by staff is shocking. Staffmake inaporopriate disrespectful comments. I was told "don't be ridiculous" when I declared my PTSD. Drugs always came late when I was an in Patient for 2 weeks. I witnessed an elderly post op lady sobbing with pain from 10pm - 3 am when I demanded the gossiping nurses located 2 METRES from her bed call the anaesthetist for her - something they should have done 5 hours earlier. Nurses didn't answer bells so I had to crawl to the toilet multiple times as my leg was in plaster. I constantly hear of serious errors leading to death or serious injury happening here. I called out of hours with a severe pain emergency (undertreated pain can kill) to find the nurse on duty left me untreated and very distressed. In response to my formal complaint he said "he didn't feel qualified to treat me"- so why didn't he call the acute pain team? They are actually good. The Director of the Health Board (Scottish equivalent to Trust) on my complaint took zero action to improve things and routinely lies in response to important complaints;nothing is ever his - or their fault so what is he paid for? He has also persecuted me personally by obstructing my care there and elsewhere and slandering me multiple times #NotLibel. This amounts to Human Rights Article 3 abuse in law ie torture. I'm not alone. There is a culture of mediocrity and not surprisingly they have difficulty recruiting. Locus ask not to be sent here again. A junior surgeon could not locate a fist sized lipoma on my back and recalled me for ultrasound. I can see this lump in the mirror! My GP can feel it easily on exam. Surgeon wanted me to make another 70 mile round trip for an ultrasound to locate it a taxi fare of £90 when she could have walked up the corridor and got a supervisor to examine me. I walked away from any further treatment and got a letter from her telling me off. A friend's son was judged in the hearing of A&E waiting room ie including his mother, to have wrongly and inappropriately have had a motorcycle crash as he was out late up to no good. No he was travelling back from work his shift ends late at night and he hit a tree down across the road he couldn't possibly have seen. This new £22million Hospital is unsafe as it had of course inherited the same culture and staff of the old building. I am however full of praise for Dr Currie's HRT/Menopause Clinic: this excellent service can't be faulted. The Health Board rum I g this hospital needs to be closed down the standards of care fully investigated and a new culture has to come in.
