Appointments should be sent out with a map to show where the patient needs to go within the hospital and relationship to car parks and a preferred route ho take within the hospital. Your volunteers in the hospital were extremely helpful but had not realised that they would be there. Just making things clearer in advance would decrease anxiety. Also a warning that there may be a delay, waiting to get into the car park and that oeople driving should add time say 30 mins to their journey so they can get in with less stress. I would suggest you get advice about what is needed from someone new to your hospital about what information is needed.
